As part of the application process, students whose first language is not English are required to demonstrate that their English ability is sufficient to undertake degree-level study.

In addition, all students requiring a visa to study in the UK must demonstrate their English proficiency as part of the visa application process.

PRE-SESSIONAL ENGLISH COURSES For those who don’t meet the minimum requirements, they can still join us by taking our accredited Pre-sessional English language courses to quickly improve and build their confidence. During the course students will:

• improve their Academic English
• develop study skills
• build their confidence
• learn about British education

Students must have a minimum of IELTS 4.0 (with no less than 4.0 in any skill) for entry onto a Pre-sessional course. If students have a higher score they may be able to do a shorter course as outlined in the table. Some courses may require a higher score so check our course pages for specific requirements.

Unfortunately, we’re not accepting students from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Nigeria onto our Pre-sessional courses.
